Ep.10 - Chapter 10 - SPEAKING ABOUT IT

We have made it to the end of Part 1 of the book. In this short chapter, I am talking about my new career path of professionally speaking. I managed to take this small chapter and turn it into a long episode with some stories about various topics… some of which are a bit off topic, but all in good fun.

I write about how it all started out when I was in rehab and my ambitions to inspired people. I didn’t mention this, but I am one of those people that like's talking about themselves, (I’ve tried to tone it down in recent times) so what better way to earn a living than talking about myself! Haha, but in all seriousness, I couldn’t ask for a more fulfilling job really. It’s brutally hard, but I love it. I wake up every day excited to go to work. That’s what we all hope for in life really.

Find what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. These are the truest words that I live by! This is so hard for people because finding what you love is one thing, but making it happen is another. When we all have our lives setup and we have a mortgage and family to take care of, it seems impossible. The truth is that yes, I’m sorry it is very hard to head down a new career path. You will have to spend all your spare time working towards it… on the side, to make it happen… but if it’s something you truly want, you can work your butt off to make it happen, the choice is yours.

Click HERE to read the article that was written in The Age newspaper after my first ever presentation to the teachers at Eltham College. The video with the original article on the internet has taken down I’m afraid, but you’ll have to believe me… there was a camera crew there. There was! That’s ok, it was there for years so I guess it had a good run.

Below is a video of me presenting to my old school. I was so nervous as you can tell and who knows what I was thinking… wearing a headband, a singlet and sipping in a Red Bull? Wow, this just cries professionalism. Well, I’m happy to say my speaking has improved off the charts from here and I’m playing a more professional game now, but we all have to start somewhere right? Enjoy!
